Fishing in Singapore with the Singapore Sea Brothers

29th to 31st May 2009

The Results for 3 Consecutive Days with LP's

From 300 grammes till 30 grammes left. They have natural life action and an in-built scent. And Live Prawns surely makes a better bait among baits.

Ikan Blukang; the Giant Sea Catfish. This is the trade of Singapore fishes around which is so common whereby there are lots of mangroves, swamps and rivers all over Singapore in the olden days even you can find them today. They're rich in histories. Try asking your Dad or Grandpa what usually do they caught and make dinner? I appreciate and have respect this species alot from time to time.

Deep-bodied Mojarra (Gerres erythrourus) or commonly called Ikan Kapas2 or Wa Bee locally. These fella loves sand worms.

Good size for the table-fare. Painted Sweetlips (Diagramma pictum) locally known as Ikan Kaci Bunga. Some say that this fish taste like Chicken? Is it true? Try catching one.

Another good eating fish caught from the shoreline. Its Javelin Grunter (Pomadasys kaakan) this time or Gerut2 locally called in Malay.

Close up for the beauty.

Hey i caught this bugger again...! Look at my hooks with that sand worms still dangles.

Its the ultimate small price this time. Its one of the famous and idolized fish that anyone ever dreamed off. Its the infamous Ikan Kurau (Eleutheronema tetradactylum) better known as the quite famous fish around, the Threadfin Salmon. Infamous as in, these are the fish who will never give up easily and tends to burst up your line with its sand-paper jaw. They love to eat Octopus tentacles and are addicted to big snood hooks as well. Goodluck, if you have caught a big one. You're a Champion!

Close-up to these bullet-nose sprinter.

Ho sey liao ar! Another tiny Grunter.

No that's double shot. I don't know how they did it? But surely they can't resist seeing the Live Prawns and they both just shove it on these maginificent double strikes. Congrats me.

Close up. The top one was called Harry Hotlips or Brown Sweetlips (Plectorhinchus gibbosus) or locally called Kaci Hitam or Kaci Karang and it looks like coral type species. And the bright silvery is a good eating fish called Bigeye Trevally (Caranx sexfasciatus) or locally called Ikan Sagai Putih. Both are seems greedy for LP's Till next time folks will keep ya updated with surprises.
