Stability and Purity

There are 7 stages of stability. It goes from green, to yellow and finally to red each with 2 stages, which are full and half full. The last stage is nothing when it's destabilized. The more purity it has the slower this process will be. Also the more purity you have the easier it is to repair.

Collectors

Each gang has a small token that they carry to identify themselves. The only way to get ahold of one of these objects is to take out a gang member who has one (usually the higher chevrons). Collectors are the ones who want to see the ranks of a given gang disrupted. Collect that gang's tokens to prove to the collector that you have achieved this and trade them in for something useful.

Here are the locations and rewards of every collector

Exile hideouts

These are dangerous places as hostile forces congregate in them to plan criminal or terrorist activities. Some hideouts are the remains of previous incarnations of the matrix, which bluepills believe are the ruins from an earthquake. Each of these hostile forces has a boss who might drop useful loot. So the purpose of going down there is to get the loot and maybe gain some experience. You will need a strong mission team to take on a hideout with hostiles around your level.

Here are the locations and loot found at every exile hideout

RSI Modification Pills

NPCs in the hideouts (except for the NPCs in the boss area of the bottom floor) and the bosses themselves have a chance of dropping pills that permanently alter a component of your character's RSI when used. These pills can also be traded or sold. Different pill types can be found in different hideouts:

  • Mars Industrial Storage: Hair Color A (1-10, natural)
  • Casinos: Hair Style (1-19 female, 1-18 male)
  • Old Hammerville High: Hair Color B (11-20, natural)
  • Old Talbot Building: Hair Color C (21-32, artificial)
  • Abandoned Subway: Tattoos (1-8)
  • Rawlins Corner: Facial Color (1-8)
  • Ole Miller Projects: Facial Style (1-12 female, 1-13 male)
  • Orchid Public Bath: Skin Tone A (1-8)
  • White Lotus Hotel: Skin Tone B (9-16)
  • South Vauxton Apartments: Head A (1-10)
  • Hampton Green Hotel: Head B (11-20 female, 11-19 male)
  • Creston Heights Museum: Body Type (1-3)

Subways

The city has an efficient mass transportation system that can help you move around. The subways are safe and reliable, but not as fast as the hardline grid. Unlike hardlines, however, you can take the subway to a station you've never visited before. You will have to use the subways when visiting International and Downtown for the first time because there are no tagged hardlines to teleport too and no bridges leading you to them.

Here is a map of the subway network

Luggables

While in possession of a Luggable you will not be able to transport between districts or into the loading area. You can teleport to other districts or go to the loading area, but you will automatically drop all luggables if you do. If a Luggable is dropped into an active mission area the luggable will be destroyed. If it is destroyed you have to hunt around to find it again. You may only have one luggable of each type in your inventory at a time. While a luggable is in your possession you will always be flagged for PvP action, so be ready.

Text Formatting

This is the format you have to type your messages in to change the font and/or colour:

Colour > {c:colourcode} Your message {/c}

Bold > {b} Your message {/b}

Italics > {i} Your message {/i}

Where the 'colourcode' is the code of the colour you want your message to appear in and 'Your message' Is the message you want to send. The brackets and everything inside them will be invisible. Here are the codes for the basic colours:

White = FFFFFF

Black = 000000

Red = FF0000

Blue = 0000FF

Yellow = FFFF00

Pink = FF00FF

More colour codes can be found here

Useropts

My Computer -> C Drive -> Program files -> Monolith/SOE -> The Matrix Online

If you don't have a file called useropts, create one. To do that open a notepad file and save it as useropts.cfg (cfg is a configuration file so it effects the game) and now you can enter variables to customise your playing experience. Anything with # at the beginning are just notes and don't effect the game. Here are some examples:

# Bullet time at the end of every exchange:
RenderBulletTimeOnly = 1
AlwaysDoBulletTime = 1
AllowBulletTimeCamera = 0

# Disable the green "matrix code" effect when you jack in:
WR_MatrixView_Min_T = -1.0
WR_MatrixView_Max_T = 0.0

# World tint (green):
ScreenFilters_GreenShift_Color_1_R = 0
ScreenFilters_GreenShift_Color_1_G = 1
ScreenFilters_GreenShift_Color_1_B = 0
ScreenFilters_GreenShift_Color_0_R = 0
ScreenFilters_GreenShift_Color_0_G = 1
ScreenFilters_GreenShift_Color_0_B = 0

More variables can be found here

Launcher Commands

You can skip all or parts of the log in process by adding another line to the launcher path. Right click your launcher icon on your desktop -> Properties -> Shortcut tab -> Target. You will see this line: "C:Program FilesMonolith ProductionsThe Matrix Onlinelauncher.exe"

You may have SOE instead of Monolith which doesn't matter. After this line put 2 more double quotation marks after a space and choose from the following to add inside the new quotation marks:

-noeula

-user username <- put your username here

-pwd password <- put your password here

-char character name <- put your character name here

Note that if you add the -char command you will always log in with the character you specified. If you want to log in with another character you will have to remove this command or you could create separate launcher icons for each of your characters. When you use -char that character will always jack out from the last used hardline, bypassing the loading area and any point of auto jackout.

Example - "C:Program FilesMonolith ProductionsThe Matrix Onlinelauncher.exe" "-user ****** -pwd ****** -noeula"
